When I opened Internet Explorer I get a first time setup window with a choice of Express or "Choose my Settings". I am selecting the latter.
The next question is Select a search provider. I am choosing to select from a list and will choose Google. It is amazing to me that even when I am looking for support within the microsoft site, MSDN, Technet, etc. I have better results going to a google search than the internal search on which ever microsoft site I am working with and I consistently have poor results with Live Search. (sorry soap box moment). When I do a live search for an issue I am having I always have to wade through unrelated or barely related information, but with a google search, I almost always get a result in the top set that is someone else who has had my issue and solved it, either in their blog, or in a newsgroup.
Now I am given an option of Choosing my "activity providers". For the moment I am going to keep the current activity providers and later see which ones are available online. The default is Blog with Windows Live Spaces, Map with Live Maps, Define with Encarta, Translate with Windows Live, Send with Live Hotmail.
And last is "turn on Safety Filter", Which is checked by default and I am leaving checked.
The intro page after going through the options wizard is a Learn about page and a "get started with activities and webslices. The options listed are Facebook, ebay, su (stumble Upon), Yahoo, Windows Live, MSN.
When I get my next free moment (they are sometimes far apart) I am going to read about the WebSlice feature.
So far all is working.
